Joy To The World

Joy To The World up button

(Original Lyrics: Isaac Watts. Revised Lyrics: Barbara Bailey Hutchison)

Joy to the world the time has come
For us to live in peace
Let every heart prepare it room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and heaven and nature sing

Joy to the World let reason reign
And all our songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

Love rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove
The glories of the righteousness
And wonders of God’s love
And wonders of God’s love
And wonders, wonders, of God’s love.

Pat-A-Panup button

Willie, bring your little drum;
Robin, get your fife and come;
When we hear the fife and drum,
Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
When we hear the fife and drum,
Surely Christmas time has come!

Friends enjoy this happy day
For we all can sing and play,
When we hear the fife and drum,
Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
When we hear the fife and drum,
We will all be frolicsome!

People of the olden days
To the God of all gave praise
On the fife and drum did play
Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
On the fife and drum did play
For the joy of Christmas day

God and people now become
More in tune than fife and drum,
So be merry while you play
Tu-re-lu-re-lu,
Pat-a-pan-a-pan,
So be merry while you play,
On this joyous Christmas day!

Star Child up button

(Lyrics: Shirley Erena Murray, Music: Carlton R. Young)

Star child, earth child
Go between of God
Love child, Christ child
Heaven's lightning rod
This year, this year
Let the day arrive
When Christmas comes to everyone
Everyone alive

Grown child, old child
Memory full of years
Sad child, lost child
Story told in tears
This year, this year
Let the day arrive
When Christmas comes to everyone
Everyone alive

Spared child, spoiled child
Having, wanting more
Wise child, faith child
Knowing joy in store
This year, this year
Let the day arrive
When Christmas comes to everyone
Everyone alive

Hope for peace child
God's stupendous sign
Down to earth child
Star of star that shines
This year, this year
Let the day arrive
When Christmas comes to everyone
Everyone alive
This year, this year
Let the day arrive
When Christmas comes to everyone
Everyone alive

Caroling Caroling up button

(Lyrics: Wilha Hudson, Music: Alfred Burt)

Caroling, caroling, now we go
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling thru the snow
Christmas bells are ringing

Joyous voices sweet and clear
Sing the sad of heart to cheer
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing

Caroling, caroling thru the town
Christmas bells are ringing
Caroling, caroling up and down
Christmas bells are ringing
Mark ye well the song we sing
Gladsome tidings now we bring
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing!

Caroling, caroling, near and far
Christmas bells are ringing
Following, following yonder star
Christmas bells are ringing
Sing we all this happy morn
"Lo, the King of heav'n is born!"
Ding dong, ding dong
Christmas bells are ringing

Carol Of The Bells up button

(Lyrics: Peter Wilhousky)

Hark how the bells,
sweet silver bells,
all seem to say,
throw cares away

Christmas is here,
bringing good cheer,
to young and old,
meek and the bold.

Ding dong ding dong
that is their song
with joyful ring
all caroling.

One seems to hear
words of good cheer
from everywhere
filling the air.

Oh how they pound,
raising the sound,
o'er hill and dale,
telling their tale.

Gaily they ring
while people sing
songs of good cheer,
Christmas is here.

Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas,
Merry, Merry, Merry, Merry Christmas.

On on they send,
on without end,
their joyful tone
to every home.

Ding dong ding... dong!

Some Children See Him up button

(Lyrics: Wilha Hudson, Music: Alfred Burt)

Some children see Him lily white,
The baby Jesus born this night.
Some children see Him lily white,
With tresses soft and fair.
Some children see Him bronzed and brown,
The Lord of heav'n to earth come down.
Some children see Him bronzed and brown,
With dark and heavy hair.

Some children see Him almond-eyed,
This Savior whom we kneel beside.
Some children see Him almond-eyed,
With skin of yellow hue.
Some children see Him dark as they,
Sweet Mary's Son to whom we pray.
Some children see him dark as they,
And, ah! they love Him, too!

The children in each different place
Will see the baby Jesus' face
Like theirs, but bright with heavenly grace,
And filled with holy light.
Oh lay aside each earthly thing
And with thy heart as offering,
Come worship now the infant King.
'Tis love that's born tonight!

Mary Did You Know up button

(Lyrics: Mark Lowry , Music: Buddy Greene)

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

Children Go Where I Send Thee up button

(Traditional African Folk Song)

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee one by one
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee two by two
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee three by three
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee four by four
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee five by five
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee six by six
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee seven by seven
Seven for the seven who all went to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee eight by eight
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven who all went to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee nine by nine
Nine for the nine all dressed so fine
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven who all went to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee ten by ten
Ten for the ten commandments
Nine for the nine all dressed so fine
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven who all went to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee eleven by eleven
Eleven for the eleven deriders
Ten for the ten commandments
Nine for the nine all dressed so fine
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven who all went to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem

Children, go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee twelve by twelve
Twelve for the twelve Apostles
Eleven for the eleven deriders
Ten for the ten commandments
Nine for the nine all dressed so fine
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven who all went to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the gospel preachers
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the little bitty baby
Born, born, born in Bethlehem.

Auld Lang Syne up button

(Lyrics: Robert Burns)

Should old acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot
And old lang syne ?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We two have run about the slopes,
And picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
Since auld lang syne

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

We two have paddled in the stream,
From morning sun till dine
But seas between us broad have roared
Since auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
For auld lang syne.

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

Years up button

(Beth Nielsen Chapman)

I went home for Christmas
To the house that I grew up in
Going back was something after all these years
I drove down Monterey Street
And felt a little sadness
When I turned left on Laurel and the house appeared
And I snuck up to that rocking chair
Where the winter sunlight slanted on the screened-in porch
And I stared out past the shade tree
That my laughing daddy planted on the day that I was born

And I let time go by so slow
And I made every moment last
And I thought about years
How they take so long
And they go so fast

Across the street the Randol's oldest daughter must have come home
Her two boys built a snowman by the backyard swings
I thought of old man Randol
And his Christmas decorations
And how he used to leave them up 'til early spring
And I thought of all the summers
That I paced that porch and swore I'd die of boredom there
And I thought of what I'd give to feel another summer linger
Where a day feels like a year

And I let time go by so slow
And I made every moment last
And I thought about years
How they take so long
And they go so fast

Then the door flew open, and my mother's voice was laughing
As she called back to my daddy, "Come and look who's here!"
And I thought about years

On Christmas up button

(Barbara Bailey Hutchison)

Bright red bows and mistletoe are hanging in the hall
Just outside the gentle white of snow begins to fall
Cinnamon and cedar are drifting through the air
Candy canes and cookies and candles everywhere...

On Christmas
It’s Christmas
Not a moment or a day
It’s life we celebrate
On Christmas
It’s Christmas
It’s the season for believing in all goodness
It’s Christmas

Caroling so merrily we'll sing a yuletide tune
Reminiscing happily, our laughter fills the room
Some of those we love are here and some are far away
Some are gone forever, though their memories remain

On Christmas
It’s Christmas
Not a moment or a day
It’s life we celebrate
On Christmas
It’s Christmas
It’s the season for believing in all goodness
It’s Christmas

As we kiss and say good night and drift away to sleep
We’ll say a prayer that everywhere
The world is filled with peace
Silent night a holy memory
Whispers on the wind
Love is all around us
To gently tuck us in

On Christmas
It’s Christmas
Not a moment or a day
It’s life we celebrate
On Christmas
It’s Christmas
It’s the season for believing in all goodness
It’s Christmas
It’s the reason for believing in all goodness
It’s Christmas
